Citizen Boards and Committees

These committees, established by the Lowell City Council, are a way for Lowell residents to provide input on the policies that shape their government and their city. Serving on a Citizen Committee provides a meaningful opportunity to contribute time, talents, and expertise to our community. If you are interested in serving on any of the below boards/committees, please submit an application or contact the City Clerk's office.

Planning Board and Board of Adjustment

The purpose of the Planning Board and Board of Adjustment to provide recommendations to the Council regarding zoning map and text amendments, decide appeals from an order or denial of a permit or other written decision made by administrative officials, appeals from any decision or determination made by the Watershed & Storm Water Administrator, and any appeals/requests for variances. The Planning Board and Board of Adjustment meets on the first Tuesday of every month at 6 p.m.

Community Committee

The purpose of the Lowell Community Committee is to perform studies, to make recommendations on community improvement and recreation policies, to make recommendations on grant activities and to offer advice and assistance to the Parks and Recreation Department and/or City Council, and others, as necessary or as requested on economic development, infrastructure, parks, greenways, facilities, beautification and city programs and grants within the City of Lowell. The Community Committee meets on the fourth Monday of each month at 6 p.m.
