General Cemetery Cleanup Schedule & Reporting Problems
In order to keep the City cemeteries well cared for and attractive, there are threegeneral clean-ups where all flowers (including artificial) and decorative ornaments are removed. The clean-ups are held on January 15, July 15, and November 15. Families should remove any items that they would like to keep before the clean-up week.
The City of Lowell GIS Department is currently working on an Edgewood Cemetery interactive map that will include information about gravestones, the grave locations, and a photo link to the permanent grave markers. This project is anticipated to be completed by June 1, 2024.
Making Arrangements for Grave Spaces
The City of Lowell does not manage, sell, or have information on open grave spaces. If a funeral home is handling the arrangements, they will be able to work with the family to verify the family's plot and make plans for open grave spaces within that family's plot.
