Flashlight Easter Egg Hunt

Harold Rankin Park

Free event!

On Friday, April 12th, grab your flashlights and Easter egg baskets for a fun evening at Harold Rankin Park! 

7:00pm - 3 and under daylight egg hunt (t-ball field, which is directly behind the Boys &Girls Club.)

7:30pm - 4-6 year old sunset egg hunt (t-ball field, which is directly behind the Boys &Girls Club.)

8:00pm - 7-12year old egg hunt (baseball field, which is the field closest to the parking lot. )


We will have a special appearance by the Easter Bunny from 7:00pm-8:00pm. Food trucks by Will's on a Roll and Anna's Sweet Treats be will be on site. The Partnership for Children of Lincoln & Gaston Counties will also be giving out free books with information on how to sign up for the free Dolly Parton Imagination Library. There will be thousands of eggs and special prize eggs in every age group as well!

Arbor Day Celebration

Harold Rankin Park

At 10:00am, please join us at Harold Rankin Park for a tree planting ceremony, City Nature Challenge Bioblitz, and story time/craft by the Lowell Branch Gaston County Library.

Girl Scouts Troop 20023 will be assisting us with the tree planting ceremony.

We also have free demonstrations of the new outdoor fitness equipment donated by the Lowell Women's Club and the Community Foundation of Gaston County! 

What is a Bioblitz and the City Nature Challenge?

A BioBlitz is an event that focuses on finding and identifying as many species as possible in a specific area over a short period of time. Thousands of people from across the globe will get outside to look for nature in their cities! Results will be announced on Friday May 6th, 2019. Touch A Truck

This free family event will give kids the opportunity to touch and explore all different types of vehicles from fire trucks to police cars and more! We will also have a food truck area set up.

One of the City's most popular events! Live music, arts & crafts vendors, food trucks, and a Kid Zone full of kid's activities as well as bounce houses*!

*Bounce houses require purchase of All You Can Jump Armband. Armbands sold by the Lowell Merchant's Association.

Treat Walk

4:00pm - 5:00pm

Downtown Treat Walk sponsored by the City of Lowell and the Lowell Merchant's Association! Participating merchants will be providing lots of treats! Free event!

Line-up starts at 3:45pm on Mill Street (next to Randy's Garage.) We have a new safer route this year! The treat walk will begin promptly at 4:00pm.

Parking will be available at the Lowell Presbyterian Church, East First Street, and at City Hall. Please note that Mill Street and Second Street will be closed to both parking and thru traffic for this event.

The group will be led by adult volunteers. Police and fire personnel will also assist to ensure the children's safety.

Have your children get into costume for this fun event in Downtown Lowell!

4:00pm Christmas Parade

5:00pm Tree Lighting Ceremony

The Christmas Parade will start at Woodlawn Baptist Church, go past Harold Rankin Park, turn right onto West First Street, and end at First Baptist Church of Lowell. Please note that parking at Woodlawn Baptist will only be for parade participants. 

After the parade, please join us downtown for the Tree Lighting Ceremony which will start as soon as the Christmas parade has finished. We will also have food trucks and Santa will be available for photos.
