The City of Lowell Citizens History Committee invites you to the fifth of nine planned community events on Sunday, July 27th.

This month's Peek at the Past will focus on sports and athletes.  This promises to be and exciting event with noteworthy athletes from Lowell’s past, including Gayle Waldrop Fulbright and Joe Ladd, possibly attending the event.

Photographs and histories of sports notables along with high school annuals from years past will be on display.

In addition, Lowell Recreation has a number of trophies and photographs of participants from city sports programs between the years of 2003 to 2014 that were never collected by the participants.  All of these trophies and photographs will be available for the participants to collect at the event.

The City invites everyone to attend and to bring with them photographs or sports memorabilia that they may have from Lowell’s past.  Of particular interest would be information on Mill Leagues, school sports and professional athletes from Lowell.

Lemonade and popcorn will be available, so please drop by, visit with sports notables, view the exhibits and collect your old trophy or photograph!  The event will be held at the Lowell Community Center located at 501 West First Street on Sunday between the hours of 1:00 and 4:00 pm.

There wil be a TEEN MOVIE coming up on Friday, June 20th at 2:00 pm. It will be a movie released within the last year, but we cannot publish the title in newspapers or newsletters due to licensing restrictions. Those interested can call the Lowell Library at 704-824-1266 for the title and additional information.  We are planning on serving popcorn and sodas during the movie. This is a FREE event!
